Seminars

Advanced Equine Reproduction

A two-day course "Advanced Equine Reproduction" (English) will take place in Warendorf-Milte, Germany on Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th, 2021. The practice-oriented course is addressed to colleagues, aiming to deepen their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in equine reproduction.

On Thursday, lectures focus on "The problem mare", including current recommendations for management of the barren mare, endometritis, hysteroscopy, ozone therapy and fungal infection,as well as management for articifial insemination with fresh and frozen semen. Furthermore, ovarian tumors and the "moody mare" and suppression of oestrous behaviour are presented in practice-oriented lectures.

Clinical cases from the entire spectrum of equine reproduction allow discussions in small groups, supporting the implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic options in the participant's daily practice.

Lectures on Friday morning emphasize "The pregnant mare"  including fetal sexing, the management of twin and high risk pregnancy, prepartum emergencies, dystocia and the management of the postpartum mare. Furthermore internationally recognized and well-experienced speakers discuss the advantages and disadvantages of covering mares in the foal heat.

In the wetlabs on Friday afternoon, the problem mare (uterine problems and ovarian disorders), hysteroscopy, fetal sexing and monitoring of the high-risk pregnancy are practiced on patients in small groups.

A visit to the European Dressage Championships in nearby Hagen is planned as a special socializing highlight, (presuming Corona Protection Rules allow spectators at equestrian events in September).
